The Dokey Story
The journey behind Dokey Locksmith Services began with learning the locksmith craft in 2004 and continued through years of hands-on work, challenges, independent experience, and continuous learning.
2004
Before entering locksmithing, the founder worked in construction.
At age 18, he was given an opportunity to learn locksmithing. He initially hesitated but eventually accepted, believing that learning a new trade could change the direction of his life.
January 5, 2004 marked his first day at a locksmith workplace and the beginning of the locksmith journey.
2010–2015
After years of learning and working in the trade, the journey went through several changes.
In February 2010, after the passing of his father, he remained in the province for a period of time.
Around 2010–2012, he tried working independently through a small street-side locksmith setup. Building recognition in the province was difficult.
In 2012–2013, he worked for another locksmith employer in Mandaluyong. During 2014–2015, he returned to independent locksmith work.
The experience helped develop practical skills, independence, and a deeper understanding of the challenges of running locksmith work personally.
2016
In 2016, he worked at Pizza Hut while continuing to accept locksmith jobs on the side.
Around August 2016, he met a fellow provincemate who later became a business partner.
While continuing regular work and locksmith sidelines, they gradually began building a locksmith service operation together.
2016–2019
The partnership gradually grew.
As demand for locksmith services increased, more people were taught and brought into the work to help serve customers.
The partnership eventually ended around 2019, carrying forward experience, lessons, resilience, and a focus on moving ahead.
2020
After the pandemic lockdown period, a new chapter began.
Dokey Locksmith was established on September 13, 2020, together with the founder's wife.
This marked the official beginning of the Dokey brand and business.
From Locksmith to Building Dokey
The founder did not feel that the business needed an overly complicated or overly formal name. The work was fundamentally about doing and making keys. The simple idea became DO KEY → DOKEY: a simple name connected directly to the craft.
More than two decades in the trade have reinforced one belief: there is always something more to learn. Every job, every lock, every key, and every challenge is another opportunity to improve the craft.
Dokey continues to serve customers while learning, improving, and building on years of hands-on locksmith experience.
